A previous article highlighted Leap Day weather extremes. In the past, February 29th has not been a particularly exciting day weather-wise, but some records were broken on that date this year...

Snowfall Record:
Bradley Airport smashed the daily snowfall record by more than 400%. The previous record was 0.8 inches in 2008, but they received 4.4 inches on February 29th, 2012.

Precipitation Record:
For liquid equivalent precipitation, Bradley also reported 0.59 inches. This far exceeded the previous record of 0.15 inches, set in 1968.

It doesn't take much to break the records...consider that we've only had 29 Leap Days since 1900. On the other hand, there have been 113 overall years in the same period. This essentially makes it four times easier to break a record on Leap Day, than any of the remaining 365 days.
