You wouldn’t be a true New Englander unless you scurried to a local farm to pick your own fruits and veggies. There are plenty of charming farms in Connecticut that reflect the quintessential spirit of the Northeast, welcoming you to visit in the summer and fall to partake in the bounty of nature (a little flowery, I know, but I got swept away by the Yankee spirit).
Ellsworth Hill Orchard & Berry Farm, Sharon, CT
Want to get lost in a corn maze? Ellsworth Hill Orchard and Farm can help you. You can also pick your own raspberries, figs, Asian pears, apples, and pumpkins from September to October. The corn maze is open from Labor Day to November.
Lyman Orchards, Middlefield, CT
This farm boasts of a sunflower maze (open July – August) and a corn maze (September – November), and offers golf outings on its 18-hole golf course! Oh yeah, you can also pick your own peaches, pears and Asian pears, and apples August – October. Need a pie? Go visit the website; the photos will make your mouth water.
