Hello everyone hope all is well. For those interested in weather and becoming a trained spotter I have scheduled a class with the NWS Upon Ny. Below is a link to the registration page for the class. http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/okx/Skywarn/spottertraining2012.html Skywarn is a group of trained volunteers that are the eyes on the ground for local weather events. Spotters provide real time accounts of weather occurring that weather forecasters see only on radar. Also provide real time accounts of severe weather and its damage so that emergency crews can respond safely and accurately to the calls for service. Skywarn is also an early warning for those in the path of severe weather. By providing early warnings by forecasters and trained Spotters many lives can be saved also drops in injuries can be attributed to the dedication of volunteers and forecasters. So with that said and for those interested in weather and learning more about it please go to the link and register. The training you receive may save the lives of your family as well as your neighbors. Stay safe and aware
