It's finally May and we finally got some rain on Tuesday morning, but that rain won't count toward April...another month with below-normal rain and above-normal temps.

In Bridgeport, the monthly average temp (all of the highs and lows averaged out over thirty days) was 52.9°. That's 3.6° above average which means we have not been below-average for any month since last winter. Of course, this comes after the warmest March ever which was 7.8° warmer than it should have been. The warmest was 81° on the 17th.

Rainfall along the shoreline in April was 2.97" which puts us 1.16" below average. Most of that (2.54") came on the 22nd and 23rd. For the year, through April 30th, we are up to 8.57"...normally by this point we should have 14.07". Last year by this point we had 17.35".

Just a trace of snow this April in Bridgeport...that brings the seasonal total, including the October nor'easter up to 13.6". Last year we ended the season with 62.6".

The numbers are pretty much the same at Bradley Airport. The average temperature in April was 51.9° which is +2.5°. The hottest day was April 16th with a high of 92°. March had temperatures at 9.3° above average, so this month was not as extreme, but we continue our streak of above-normal temps over the last twelve months.

April rain at Bradley was 3.02" which is .7" below average. 2.68" fell on the 22nd and 23rd. For the year we are up to 8.97", 4.49" below average. In 2011, through April 30th, we had 20.12" of rain.

No snow this April in Hartford...the seasonal total comes in at 26.7". Last April's 1.3" of snow topped the season out at 86.4".
