Can you see the Vegas strip in the picture above?  Not really!  This is because southern Nevada has been hit with dust that was kicked up by strong weather systems in nearby Arizona.

This picture was taken at 2:00 EST on 5/11/12 by Las Vegas resident Joe Piccirillo.  Joe grew up in North Haven, Connecticut and keeps me up to date with everything going on out west.  Thanks for the picture Joe!  You can follow Joe on twitter @JoePicPhoto.

Joe told me that on a normal day you would be able to see the strip with no problems at all. Yesterday you couldn't see anything buildings at all.

There is currently an air advisory for the Las Vegas Valley and under these alert conditions, children, seniors and people with chronic respiratory problems are urged to stay indoors.
