Hurricanes are some of the most powerful natural disasters known to Earth. As forecasting skill now gives us excellent advance notice, these storms are not as deadly as they once were.

Since 1900, the 10 deadliest tropical cyclones have killed over 60,000 people.

Of those storms , only two have occurred since 1975 and surprisingly enough, Hurricane Katrina from 2005 did not make this list.
