In honor of the West getting snow today and next 48hrs, here's a graph I put together that shows normal snowfall per year (Top Line). And actual snow that fell this past winter (bottom line) with the departure from normal in parenthesis.
Selected cities are sorted in order from most annual snowfall to least.
- Denver was the closest being just 2% below normal.
- Baltimore was 91% below normal
- Philly was 82% below normal
- Boston stands out also normally getting 43” of snow , only getting 9.3” last winter.
- It was 6th lowest snowfall for NYC.( 1972-73: 2.8” , 2001-02: 3.5” , 1918-19: 3.8”, 1931-32: 5.3”, 1997-98: 5.5” )
- It was the 3rd lowest snowfall season for Havehill, MA
- It was not in Top 10 lowest snowfall season for BDR or BDL
