The Storm Prediction Center has placed Fairfield and New Haven Counties in a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8 p.m. tonight.

The combination of the daytime heating we had so far today and the impressive dew points have led to the rapid development of severe storms to develop in the state.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch that has been issued has the following threats:

Hail to 1 inch in diameter, thunderstorm wind gusts to 75mph and dangerous lightning.

Stay tuned to WXEdge for the very latest on this afternoon's severe outbreak!
