2:30 P.M. Severe and possibly tornadic thunderstorms are slamming upstate New York and Vermont.

There have been at least two reports of softball-sized hail across upstate New York. One report was from North Bolton and the other was in Warren.
Hail this large is extremely dangerous and can cause serious damage to buildings and motor vehicles.

Two tornado warnings have occurred since 2 P.M., one of which can be seen in red on the above graphic.
Thanks to Ralph Fato for providing some of the imagery shown here.

Isolated thunderstorms will continue to fire closer to us, across the Hudson Valley in southeastern New York State.
Connecticut should be on the safe side until 4 p.m., then storms could fire after that.
***Interior western Connecticut has the highest threat of severe weather.
***Highest risk comes from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Below shows the temperature contrast. The impressive heat along and NW of I-95/395 may help kick off some severe thunderstorms.
