Another day and more thunderstorms, take a look at what's going on this afternoon:

5:40 p.m. update
Storms continue to develop, but are passing into New York and New Jersey. Connecticut remains in the clear under warm temperatures and a mixture of sunshine and clouds.

As we head into the evening more thunderstorm activity is expected. Some showers or thunderstorms could pop up in western portions of CT, but most of the rain will stay to our west. At this time, severe weather is not expected, but stay tuned to WXedge.com for all the latest updates.

Any showers or thunderstorms could bring locally heavy rainfall, gusty winds and lightning. Hail is not a major threat, allow some of the stronger cells could feature small hail. Eastern CT has a much lower risk for rain and could very well stay dry.

Live radar below:

4:50 p.m. update
Connecticut is now in the clear as shower/thundershower activity has died out. Dry, more stable air is trying to move into the area. The strongest storms continue to fire well to the south and west of the state.

4:25 p.m. update
A small thundershower has popped up over Litchfield and is about to move through Morris and Bethlehem. The storm may feature heavy rain and lightning, but so far these storms have proved to be short-lived.

4:00 p.m. update
The first strong thunderstorms have begun to fire, but right now they are in the Catskills and lower Hudson Valley of New York.

In our neck of the woods, a few showers have popped up in northwestern CT and these could turn into thundershowers.
