Now that we finally have a break in the rain, and a break that looks like it's gonna stick around for much of the rest of the month, I thought this would be a great time to check out the latest rainfall and temperature stats.
We are still in a drought, but we have had some good rain so far in the month of June that has definitely helped. In Bridgeport, the first half of the month has had 3.17". That's 1.34" above average. For the year, we are now up to 16.31" which is still more than 3" below average...but that gap is closing compared to where it was a few months ago. Last year, through this same time in June, we had an incredible 24.86".
At Bradley Airport, 3.09" of rain so far this month which is about an inch above average. For the year, 15.33" compared to a normal of about 20" by this point in June. Last year, January 1st through June 14th had 26.19".
With all the clouds and rain, our temps have been dramatically cooler. Bradley Airport's average temperature so far in June is 61.3°. That's all the highs and lows averaged out over all the days so far. That is 3.7° cooler than where we should be in the first half of June. We have not seen cooler-than-normal monthly numbers in more than a year for most of the state. In Bridgeport, the average temp was 65.6° which is below normal by a much smaller extent: .6°.
