Looking at today’s latest model runs it appears that the forecasted heat wave may be underestimated.
Now let’s first get one thing straight: The heat wave will only be two days long. And in actuality it is not even a heat wave. A heat wave in meteorological terms means three or more days when high temperatures exceed 89 degrees. But that is not to say these two days will be hot.
Models this morning have been showing less moisture in the upper and low levels of the atmosphere these two days. Now what does that mean for the biker, gardener, or outside lover? It means fewer clouds!
Have you ever noticed on a really hot day how much a little cloud over the sun will cool you down?
Well, with few clouds in the sky this gives the sun a real potential to heat things up.
So, all in all it looks like highs on Wednesday will climb up into the mid-90’s inland and around 90 on the shoreline. And on Thursday, it now looks like high temperatures will be in the upper 90’s to around 100 inland and in the low to mid 90’s on the shoreline.
Friday will feature more clouds and much cooler temps as a cold front approaches Connecticut.
