Impressive temperatures out there already today! Haze, heat and humidity dominates through the afternoon. Low air quality for the state too with highest ozone readings for the southern half of Connecticut. A random thunderstorm possible late today

Records are reachable today. 95 shoreline and 96 inland both established in 1953.

We still have at least 24hrs of heat and humidity left. Although temperatures will be 8 to 10 degrees lower Friday, the humidity will still cause high heat index numbers. I will also be monitoring the risk for some potent thunder development noon - 8PM Friday. There will be a low pressure wave developing along the front late Friday and that could keep the clouds and spotty rain around early Saturday Morning.

Much drier air will invade for Sunday with a nice day in the outlook. Another Fall-like trof will settle in across the Northeast for much of next week with below normal temperatures. This trof aloft could play a role in the ultimate patch of a tropical system the will be climbing the eastern seaboard next week. A Tropical Storm is progged to develop over the NE Gulf of Mexico during the next 72 hours. Then track over the Florida peninsula before emerging out over the warm gulf stream waters. The ECMWF and GFS have a track just off the east coast  next week. We will be watching the development of this feature VERY CLOSELY!

For now, let's get through the heat and humidity safely!
