The rate of temperature change from pool to pool depends on 2 main factors. Besides the sun being an obvious one, it is in ground vs. above ground. If you opened your pool early in the season during a nice stretch of weather, you may find it noticeably cooler than your friend's pool or neighbor's pool. In ground pools are surrounded by the ground, 6-7 feet deep of soil. Ground temperatures that deep gradually change. During the spring, an in ground pool will take longer to heat up because of the cooler soil from winter, but as fall approaches the ground will act as in insulator keeping your in ground pool warmer than above ground pools.
