More severe thunderstorms can be expected in New England on Saturday.
Some ingredients are still in place and it looks like we could be dealing with additional strong to severe thunderstorms. An upper level short-wave will come through the area late in the day, which may help trigger some thunderstorms.
With dew-points dropping, drier air will combine with surface temperatures jumping through the 80s. This heating will cause steepening lapse rates and higher CAPE (potential energy) values in the atmosphere. This is why there is a threat for some severe weather.
The worst of the severe weather is expected to hit eastern New England, but a few strong to severe thunderstorms could impact northeastern CT. Windham and Tolland Counties, were already hit very hard Friday afternoon with severe weather, but they may get hit again.
Although isolated storms cannot be ruled out for southwestern CT, the risk for storms in that area is lower.
