Wunderground: Most Local & Real-Time WX Conditions

As opposed to using Accuweather, TWC, and other basic weather sites that all get their data from the NWS...there are much better alternatives. First off, the NWS only updates their data once an hour on the :50. A lot can happen within an hour. Also there is a lot of distance between each station, considering there are only 8 in the state. Weather Underground has hundreds of personal weather stations across the state, with many towns having more than one. Also these stations update their data every 5 seconds! However, some take up to 15 minutes. Overall this is good for better rainfall comparisons, and temperature/elevation correlations. Anyone can upload their stations here. There are some outliers that will be inaccurate, but there is an info tab that displays the station's model and brand so you can determine for yourself if it is a reliable/high quality piece of equipment. Besides, displaying your info online, there are a few smartphone apps to check your data on the go. This all comes in handy great for towns just north of shoreline towns. For example: North Haven, Woodbridge, Orange, Shelton, etc. Usually the 2nd or 3rd town north of the beach town. Lets take North Haven: we are away from the water, so TWEED in New Haven is completely unreliable for temperature conditions. Our next location is in Meriden... a good 15-20 miles north of here. Our PWS's in North Haven come in big handy, including my own (North Haven, CT).
