The U.S. is baking in the heat, but just how hot is it?

For starters, the current official hottest temperature in the WORLD is 113F at Smyrna, TN! Wow! Tindouf, Algeria was the hottest, but they've slipped down to 110F.

Washington, D.C. has gotten to 104 degrees so far, making it the 10th hottest temperature on record!

Land Coverage:
*13.1% of the country is currently above degrees
*58.2% over 90 degrees

So, while it may feel hot in CT with readings in the upper 80s to mid-90s, just be thankful you're not living further southwest! Almost every state across the mid-Atlantic, lower Great Lakes and Southeast has temperatures above 100 degrees.
