While the tropics in the Atlantic are nothing to write home about, over in the Pacific, things were very busy for a few weeks.  They had three named storms over the course of just a handful of days.  "This animation of GOES-15 satellite observations from July 8 (6:00 p.m. EDT) to July 12 (9:30 a.m. EDT), 2012, shows Hurricane Daniel weaken to a remnant low pressure area nearing Hawaii, while Emilia became a hurricane to the east of Daniel, and Tropical Storm Fabio developed off the western Mexican coast on July 12."
