If your looking to cool down this summer you might want to head to Norfolk in the far Northwestern hills. Norfolk is often known as the “icebox” of Connecticut and for good reason. With it’s high elevation of between 1400 and 1770 feet temperatures tend to average around 5 to occasionally 10 degrees lower than cities and towns just 15 minutes away.

I looked at some weather data at a reporting station and found that there has not been a single 90 degree day yet this summer. In fact the highest temperature has been 89 degrees!  Just this week on Tuesday, the temperature was down to 51 degrees. In fact while my high temperatures in Hamden was in the mid to upper 80s the last 2 week, Norfolk’s high temperatures were usually in the upper 70s to lower 80s!
