Ugly Friday...Beautiful Weekend

Our heat wave ended on Wednesday with those very strong storms. What caused the drop in temperature and humidity on Thursday was a cold front.
The image above shows the position of that front along with clouds and rain as of about 5pm on Thursday. The problem is that the front is now stalled out and will be turning back around and picking up moisture. Look back to our west and you can see quite a bit of rain coming out of the Great Lakes and stretching south.
So...what does this mean for our weather?
First off, it means rain will be moving back into CT tonight into Friday morning. An easterly wind will set up all day Friday and that means it will be cloudy, cool and breezy. Highs for most of the day will only be in the 60s. And it looks as though we could have on and off rain all day.
The rain should not be terribly heavy for most areas, although there could be a few heavier pockets, especially south and west.
The weekend, though, is still on track to be great. We might wake up on Saturday morning with a few clouds, but sunshine will be working in and overall, it should be nice with comfortable temperatures, low humidity and plenty of sunshine.
I would like to add one other thought to all this...we really, really, really need some rain. Our drought has been creeping back in. So Wednesday's rain will help and hopefully, some rain on Friday will help and if all works out we get the much-needed rain Friday and then the nice weekend.
