Rain Every Day Next Week?

August is almost here, and for those of us that grew up in the Northeast, we know that August can be a beautiful month, but it also can have some seven to ten day stretches that can be very unsettled. Next week will be one of those periods of time.
The image above shows the weather pattern that will be locked in for much of next week.
The upper-level winds will be predominantly out of the northwest. That northwest flow will pull down cold air aloft.
At the surface we will have predominantly a southeasterly wind which will pull up the warm and moist air.
In addition, we will have a series of frontal boundaries that will be moving back and forth across the area and disturbances move along those fronts into Connecticut from time to time.
So...put it all together and here's what we can expect...
Humid weather everyday. Each day will have a mix of clouds and sun. Some days more clouds, some days more sun. It will not be raining all day, everyday, but everyday we can see scattered showers and storms.
The storms will happen for two reasons - the first is afternoon heating. These storms behave and are easy to forecast because they pop-up on schedule each day in the afternoon and evening once the atmosphere gets hot and unstable.
The second trigger is a disturbance. These disturbances are much harder to time out because we don't know when they are coming through until usually within about 24 hours.
So...bottom line is to plan on scattered showers and storms at just about any point next week, but with the highest chance each afternoon and evening.
