The first weekend of August will feel like, well, August.
The image above shows the dew point at about 11pm on Thursday evening. Remember that dew point is the true measure of how much moisture is in the air. Low is dry. High is moist. At this time of the year the range averages about 40° on a rare, super-super-super-dry day and 80° on the most humid day you could imagine. 80° only happened once this entire summer for about an hour in Danbury on the first day of our very first heat wave...brutal.
Inland parts of CT are currently in the mid to upper 60s which is pretty humid. But in Southern Connecticut and especially along the immediate shoreline, we are in the lower 70s which is getting into the oppressive range.
These numbers will continue to rise over the next couple of days and probably peak on Saturday. In fact, this might end up being the most-humid weekend of the summer so far. Temperatures will be hot, but they are not gonna blow you away and are not likely to break any records, but the humidity will be nasty.
