A slow moving, but strong thunderstorm that stalled over Naugatuck, Prospect, and Cheshire dropped over 6" of rain. On Wooster Street (2 miles NE of Naugatuck Center), a reliable weather station recorded 6.01" of rain that fell from 3pm to 7pm. Rain rates were sustained at 8" per hour for long periods of time. It only took 50 minutes to get 2" of rain, which is still decent for any rain storm.

At 1:30pm I was driving through Wallingford on I-91 South and drops were barely making it to the east side of town. But it was obvious that it was pouring just a few miles to the west. The automatic headlights activated themselves because the sky darkened so much.

Meteorologist Sam Kantrow mentioned in his updates how the storm would extend into the vicinities of North Haven and Hamden. Fellow WXedge contributor Greg Horan recorded 1.24" of rain in just under an hour at his station in Hamden, but at my station in North Haven, 4 miles to the east, I ended up with only 0.15".
