July turned out to be a pretty hot month as temperatures were above average for yet another month this year.  The normal high is 82° and my average in North Haven was 86.2°.  That’s a good 4° above normal.  The normal low temp is 66° and that’s exactly what my average was from my weather station.

The hottest day of the month was on 7/18/12 (my birthday) when I topped out at 98°.  That was one of the days where severe storms were forecasted across the state.  I chased a storm that day but had car trouble and had to call it quits early unfortunately.  I remember the temperature going from 98° to 76° in about 30 minutes in one of those thunderstorms in Plainville.  It didn’t cool down much more that day as I recorded my highest daily low temperature of the month also on the 18th at 75°.

The normal rainfall for July is 3.48 inches and I recorded slightly above average rain for the month.  I had 3.79 inches of rain in July and received the most daily rain on July 28th with 1.16”.

The busiest day of the month was on Tuesday, July 24th when a strong thunderstorm knocked out power to 400 people in North Haven.  I recorded only .15 inches of rain at my station but the other side of town had much more.  There were trees down all over town and several streets were closed.  I also recorded a wind gust of 18.3 mph during that storm.

Below is a summary of the data from my weather station.  Those are just numbers but the numbers sure do tell a story!
