**2:40PM Update: Some downpours firing up. Monitoring them closely for development through 6PM. So far, the heavy rain and severe thunderstorms have been over Long Island!
What a morning. Many 1" to 1.5" rain totals from those thunderstorms rolling through. Clearing underway now and I expect another round of convection this afternoon. Lifted Index numbers are low and forecast -5 to -6 this afternoon and I notice 50KT winds aloft today.
The Storm Prediction Center has an elevated risk area over Connecticut for hail and wind gusts. Will be watching closely this afternoon.
Weak high pressure builds in briefly tomorrow and Friday through midday. The next front will rumble through with thunderstorms later Friday and Friday Night. The rain and thunder should slide south of Connecticut early Saturday.
Some cool continental air should make it to our area through the weekend and early next week with delightful nights and days. The frontal band should keep waves of low pressure south of New England.
