I was just an 8 year old boy when Hurricane Gloria made landfall on the coast of Connecticut near Milford. North Haven was located on the eastern (stronger) side of the storm which made it pretty much a direct hit! Now 27 years later I still have vivid memories of the event as it unfolded.
Gloria had a major impact on my life. The hurricane knocked down dozens of trees in the woods where all my friends and I would play. Great “forts” were built from fallen trees and branches that had fallen due to the heavy winds. Most importantly, this weather event is what peaked my interest in weather.
