This is the view from outer-space courtesy of NASA's Terra satellite of Isaac at about the precise time it was upgraded from a tropical storm to a hurricane at 12:30pm.
At this point, the eye was located about 100 miles south of the mouth of the Mississippi River and winds were up to about 75mph.
