The image above shows the surface conditions at 8pm on Saturday. This is about the time the strong cold front will be just pushing into western portions of Connecticut.

Before the front comes in, it's gonna be warm, windy and very humid. There is still a chance for storms as early as Saturday afternoon and any storms that form in the tropical airmass could be strong to severe. But the afternoon storms will be more isolated.

The real action will be just ahead and along the cold front. That means that between 6pm and 2am, but specifically from about 8pm to midnight, a line of very heavy rain will be pushing through the state.

This front may have a "squall line" which is a very sharp line a strong storms. Very heavy rain and very strong winds could push through. Even if a squall line doesn't form and we miss out on the really big storms, there should be a line of heavy rain in the evening.

All models show this cold front racing to the east pretty quickly and that should leave Connecticut with beautiful weather on Sunday; cooler, less humid and with increasing sunshine. There may be a lingering shower early Sunday morning in Eastern Connecticut, but most of the rain should be done by sunrise.
