Although autumn doesn't officially begin until September 22nd at 10:49am, our weather patterns across the United States and especially here in the northeast have been showing signs of fall in the last couple of weeks and autumn will be winning out over at least the next week.

A cold front Friday night will bring some brisk conditions for the weekend, but very little rain. But by next week, we could begin to see a chance for more of a steady rain.

The image above is the GFS weather model at 8pm on Tuesday showing surface conditions and specifically the precipitation forecast.

The set-up is an area of low pressure and a warm front moving up the east coast with moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. It looks like rain could begin as early as Monday night and not taper off until during the day on Wednesday. But the bull's eye of the steady rain looks to be on Tuesday.

A cold front on Wednesday should dry us out for late week and also give us another reinforcing shot of cooler air.
