The early Fall season of September and early October is my favorite time of year to be out kayaking!  There are many reasons why I consider it ideal.  The main reason is the sky conditions during this time of year are often the most clear and sunny compared to any other time of year.

Also water temperature continue to be warm usually from about 65 to 75 degrees. At the same time the air temperatures are usually in the same range as well. If I was too fall in the water it would still be warm enough to avoid serious hypothermia.

In addition the UV index is typically from 4 to 7, much lower then the Summer months, so it’s much less intense and harsh!

At the same time the summer crowds are gone, and on some weekday afternoon’s you can be the only one on the water, It’s just so peaceful! So if you have a chance in the next several weeks make time to get out onto a the lake before the colder weather takes hold!
