It was a chilly start across the area, reminding us that fall is near.

Temperatures across much of the state fell into the mid-40s, including lows of 44 degrees common at reporting stations in Danbury, Meriden, Windsor Locks and Willimantic.

The photo above was from Naugatuck shortly before 7 a.m. Aside from the pretty sky, there is just a touch of color showing up in the trees. With the start of fall less than a week away and some cool nights expected later in the week, we will see more color ease into the foliage in the coming days.

It does look like summer tries to hang on for today and tomorrow. High temperatures should rebound well into the 70s across portions of the state today. As we head into the day tomorrow, the humidity will return and there can also be a few gusty thunderstorms across the area. However, a cold front early Wednesday morning should bring back some fall-like conditions.
