That tiny spec on the Radar was where I was. The picture below it is from Norwalk facing Stamford. The blue Sky in the picture you can see between the 66° and Stamford on the Satellite.

Back on August 6th I wrote about how BDR is so close to me yet the amount of rainfall total is not. http://www.wxedge.com/articles/2012080621_miles_makes_a_big_difference_with_rain_totals

Gil just wrote about this pop up today. http://www.wxedge.com/articles/20120920ugly_skies_all_of_a_sudden-drops_too

I was working in Stamford and all of a sudden it started sprinkling(very light) at 12pm. I noticed darker clouds to the northeast towards Long Island and Norwalk.

I look at the radar from one weather app on my phone and it showed nothing. So I'm thinking maybe too light for radar to catch.

As I'm heading into Norwalk it started "raining".. not Drizzle but Rain at 12:45pm. I'm guessing .10" fell while I was there. Aside from this suprising pop up... West Norwalk was dry while South Norwalk was raining at that point. Eventually West Norwalk did get a drizzle. GRE radar clearly showed where the rain was falling.

So once again, Norwalk adds to the precip data today while BDR does not.

For the Year...... BDR has 27.12" of rain while I have 37.63". Thats 40% more just a short distance away. Now Add another .05" for today while BDR got 0.

My Precip Data

Here's a Panoramic View from Norwalk facing Stamford. Notice the wet Ground and the blue skies to the south.

Lastly... On September 18th, 2012 I had torrential rains in Norwalk that totalled 1.95" total for the day while BDR had .88" that day. It's the trend that has been all summer long getting caught in these downpours.  Here’s the scene in Norwalk today while a pop up shower decided to move overhead.

So the title says it all, I was surprised; but given the trend of this year, I wasnt. :-)
