Fog was widespread this morning for Connecticut, but the fog has been lifting gradually throughout the day. Scattered showers are developing and heading into parts of western Connecticut from the west for this afternoon and evening.

There maybe even some pockets of heavier showers and possibly isolated low-top thunderstorms that could develop throughout the light rain area approaching the state. An occluded front to our west is aiding in the development of rain in our area. The above image is the 12z (8 am) surface analysis showing the occluded front to the west of Connecticut. This front will slide west to east across the state today.

The high temperatures today will range from the mid 60’s to around 70°F.

Climatologically for October 3rd, Bridgeport’s average high temperature is 68°F and normal low is 51°F. For October 3rd, the city of Hartford’s normal high is 68°F and the normal low is 46°F.

Tonight’s low temperatures will fall back into the 50’s inland to near 60°F at the shoreline. The boundary will move through later tonight to decrease the amount of moisture in the air for overnight into the day tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be gorgeous and mild with finally a good deal of sunshine. At times, there can be a mix of clouds and sun. High temperatures could be approaching or exceeding 80°F in at least some towns throughout the state for tomorrow.

The weekend will be a bit unsettled. Mild conditions with some showers are possible on Saturday and cooler with a developing weak low pressure near us on Sunday.

On Saturday, there will be a cold front approaching and going through Connecticut. The early morning lows will be mild in the 50’s. High temperatures for Saturday may reach the low to mid 70’s, but there is a chance of a shower and cooler temperatures behind the cold front later in the day.

On Sunday, a shortwave will develop around the trough and move by the state just to the south. Sunday will be chilly and raw with an area of rain moving through the state. The early morning lows could be in the mid to upper 40’s and high temperatures will struggle to reach 60°F. High temperatures on Sunday could be in the low to upper 50’s. Temperatures may cool off into the 30’s for Sunday night in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut, but temperatures will be generally in the 40’s for overnight lows.

The cooler weather stays around through the midweek, but becomes sunnier and drier. High temperatures could be in the 50’s and 60’s. Low temperatures could be in the 30’s for the interior, and 40’s closer to the shore. The cooler temperatures will be at the Litchfield Hills and interior valleys with the possibility for some freeze/frost issues for particularly Tuesday early morning.

Enjoy the nice mild weather for Friday and part of Saturday! The weekend won’t be a total washout. To recap, Saturday should be mainly dry and mild with some scattered showers. Sunday could be a bit rainy and raw, but just grab some raingear and make the best of the weekend. Have a great weekend! Enjoy the weather!
