The 16th Tropical Depression of the Atlantic tropical season has formed near Florida.

4:55 p.m.
TD #16 has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Patty. The NHC doesn't think the Tropical Storm status will last for long, as they have said Patty "appears to be on borrowed time."

A tropical disturbance just east of Florida has been tracked for the past few days and the NHC released their first advisory on it as Tropical Depression #16 at 11 a.m.

The storm is expected to drift to the southwest.
At this point, conditions do not look favorable for much strengthening. In fact, the NHC expects the system to dissipate over the next day or stay.

Stay tuned to WXedge.com for more details, including another tropical system that may soon develop.
