The coldest air of the season that broke records on Saturday morning will be short-lived as our winds go back around to the southwest tonight and Sunday in association with an approaching warm front.

The image above shows surface conditions at 2am on Sunday morning.

The warm front will be pushing through tonight and Sunday morning and that will keep Connecticut in the clouds. Light rain could pop up tonight and Sunday morning, but by Sunday afternoon, with the warm front to our north, we should dry out and see a mix of clouds and sun. The southwest winds could gust up to 30mph, but since that is a warm weather direction, highs near 70° can be expected state-wide.

The second feature is the cold front. You can see it above stretching south from Iowa down toward Texas. That is due to arrive Monday afternoon into Monday night. That means Monday may begin with dry weather, but by the afternoon it will be mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and even thunderstorms. This system tomorrow could cause strong to severe storms across the Ohio-Tennessee Valley, but by the time it gets here, the severe storm threat looks to be much lower.

After the cold front, another shot of cooler temps but several days of dry weather before things become unsettled again toward the weekend.
