The Tri-State Weather Conference at Western Connecticut State University was a success. Meeting with professionals, students, teachers, and weather enthusiasts promoted educational environment along with some laughs. After talking with Gary Lessor, Assistant to the Director of Meteorological Studies and the Conference Organizer at WCSU, he said it was the most attended weather conference at WCSU thus far. There were 162 people registered before the day of the conference. Approximately, there was close to 200 people that came during the conference. The atmosphere was intimate and professionally done. Special thanks goes out to Gary Lessor, WCSU, and everyone that made the weather conference possible and so well done.

Some of the presentations included; upgrading to Dual Polarization, the October 2011 snowstorm, Hurricane Irene, and the tornadoes of June 1, 2011. Another presentation talked about the rarity of the New England 1938 hurricane and the tracks of other hurricanes by Dr. Hart.  Dr. Hart talked about the Fujiwara Effect with Connie and Diane in 1955, which is shown on some of the model runs for Tropical Storm Sandy and another ocean storm.  It is still yet to be determined on the very complicated forecast for the path and strength of Tropical Storm Sandy. It also relates to the talk about how tropical systems go from warm core to hybrids to cold core systems, which is the fate of Tropical Storm Sandy.

Make sure to attend the next weather conference and other weather conferences to excel your knowledge and interest in the weather, if available.

Dr. Coch did a presentation and has a general PDF file about his presentation.
