Some changes with the pattern ahead.
As the center of low pressure continues moving north away from Connecticut, weather conditions will slowly improve locally.
High tide will run about one foot above normal again today for the midday cycle. From 10:16AM around Stonington to prior to 1PM down near Greenwich and Stamford. Southerly winds will continue pushing the water against the shoreline.
As far as the wind for utility crews, winds today will be under 40mph. This is good news!
The temperature on the other hand, will be dropping through the next week with lows in the upper 20s and 30s. This will cause the temperature of a non-heated home to turn pretty cold by the weekend. So those of you without power need to consider this in your planning. Those of you with the ability to open shelters should also consider the need for warmth later this week.
High pressure dominates through the weekend with the chilly feel.
Do I dare mention the possibility of a coastal storm next week? Low pressure will likely develop off the SE USA coast and head northeast. Temperatures inland and mostly NW CT could be cold enough for a rain/snow mix. Stay tuned.
We are in a very negative NAO pattern and this can allow for more stormy weather along the East Coast.
