We continue to see the potential for a potent nor'easter on Wednesday and Thursday and there are still plenty of questions that need to be answered, but as of Sunday evening, the storm is starting to come into slightly better focus, and rain and wind will be the biggest stories.
The image above shows where the storm is right now...over the Dakotas and the Great Plains. This energy will shoot down toward the Gulf of Mexico and then make the turn up the East Coast.
It looks like the storm has slowed down a bit and that means the precip won't begin until Wednesday afternoon and will last into Thursday night.
This will be mainly rain for most of Connecticut. Inland areas might see some snow mixed in on Wednesday night and Thursday night, but it won't be enough to cause any problems. If there is any accumulation of snow, it will be light and mainly confined to the higher elevations of the Northwest Hills. Rainfall totals could top out at 1-3" with the heaviest rain in Eastern CT.
Worst case scenario is a lot of wind (gusts up to 60mph) and more coastal flooding and beach erosion along the shoreline. This will not be a repeat of Sandy, but any coastal flooding or downed trees could mean a big step back in the recovery.
Lots of time for the storm to change track and intensity, so stay tuned to wxedge and news8.
