A trough approaches from the west today generating some cloudiness. Some clouds may linger through tomorrow. Not expecting enough moisture or lift for showers as this passes through.
Heights rise and thickness values rise for some warming over the next few days. High temperatures will reach the peak Friday with middle and upper 50s progged.
A sharp cold front will cross the area early Saturday. There may be a slight temperature rise midday before the cold air advection really causes the temperature to drop during the afternoon. Coldest air of the season arrives for Saturday Night and Sunday with wind too! 850 mb temperatures look to me as the coldest yet with -10-11c over Connecticut. I am not sure why guidance is so high with the temperature for Sunday. I shaved them down to 39 inland and 43 shoreline for maxes!
Some warm air advection kicks in Monday. We will be on the edge of the Westerlies. This active jet and tight thermal gradient across the Northeast will likely lead to a few rain or messy mix events next week as low pressure centers track over or just North of Ct. Stay tuned!
A strong punch of colder air likely with a possible storm around the 28th-29th. Stay tuned!
Please check my video for a detailed discussion!
Have a great day! -Gil
