Get ready for a messy night of wintry weather across the state with highs winds, gusting up to 55mph. The winds are headed out of the NE and that will allow for plenty of cooling. I think we'll get up to 2 inches along the shoreline and up to 6" (maybe even more) north of 84. Lows will be around the freezing point, and the snow should hold for a while. With that said, we will see that changeover eventually, starting in SE CT and then for the rest of us through the overnight. Thursday brings predominantly rain, with highs in the upper 30's to low 40's. We will likely continue to see wintry mix inland as the system continues to move NE. This is a pretty large system and while it has picked up some speed it will cause a lot of commuter problems tonight and tomorrow morning.
