With the recent snow and more snow forecast for this upcoming weekend, it is a good time to review some Winter safe-driving tips! If at all possible, it is a good idea to stay home during snowy and icy conditions. However, if you must venture out, these tips will help keep you safe!

When starting out on icy roads, do a test of your braking and steering abilities.
Gently press the gas pedals to get the car moving, so you don’t spin. When you brake, do it more gradual then normal.

Remember to reduce your speed!
There is no safe speed in particular, but in general reducing it will ensure less time needed to stop your vehicle.

When stopping, avoid quick movements of the steering wheel and pump your brakes slowly.

Keep your windows clear, remember to not start driving until you defrost and de-ice all windows, and clean off snow from the roof to avoid a sudden “mini-blizzard” than can occur from snow that falls onto the windshield.

Install new wiper blades before each winter season, and add a high quality deicer washer fluid that can be used in frigid weather.
