Very cold temperatures can have a negative impact on your vehicles especially if they are a little older. To make sure you aren’t left stranded in the frigid cold, here are some tips to keep your car ready for winter.
- Have your battery checked to make sure it’s in good strength. Cars need more power to turn over in very cold weather because the oil has thickened. Also cold weather sucks some of the power right out of the battery.
- Don’t let your gas lines freeze. Always keep your tank half full or more with gasoline and you probably won’t run into any problems. If you want extra protection just add some STP gas treatment at every couple fill ups.
- Check the tire pressure. Cold weather will lower the pressure in the tires so keep an eye on your tires and fill them up if they get low.
