The coldest air of the season is building into Connecticut as we speak, but it is also likely to be the coldest air in about two years...colder than anything we saw during the tame and mild winter of 2012.
The coldest temperature in 2012 was 4 degrees up at Bradley Airport on January 16th. Compare that to a year before when it dropped to 7 degrees 'below zero' on January 24th and then 5 degrees 'below zero' on February 11th. While it won't be quite that cold this week, it might be close in a few spots.
Along the shoreline, the average high should be 36 and the average low 22 degrees. The record lows for the rest of the week at Bridgeport are the following:
Tuesday: -7 (1984)
Wednesday: 0 (1976)
Thursday: 0 (2011)
Friday: 2 (2004)
For inland parts of CT, the average high should be 34 and the average low 17 degrees. The record lows for the rest of the week at Bradley Airport are the following:
Tuesday: -26 (1961)
Wednesday: -19 (1961)
Thursday: -19 (1961)
Friday: -4 (1945)
