Frigid!! The lakes and the ponds are now frozen over. Even here on the shoreline most small ponds are safe to walk upon (make sure you have another person with you and check with local officials to make sure the ice is safe).

Well, which one first, the good or the bad? I will start off with the good news. The good news is by Monday of next week the arctic air will leave Connecticut. The bad news is that there are very strong signals that an arctic air mass will try to redevelop as early as next Thursday.

Situation overview: The cold will ease with perhaps some light non-significant snow Monday night. By Tuesday we may see highs around 45 and Wednesday may be a tad warmer. Then by Thursday the arctic hounds will by sounding. It is possible that this new arctic air mass may be just as cold as the one currently affecting us.

Now there are questions arising whether an area of low pressure will develop along the front. It is still too far to forecast where and what type of precipitation will fall with this low. To sum it all up: Frigid, warm, then frigid.
