A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY will be in effect on Monday afternoon into Tuesday at 7am for all of CT, except along the immediate shoreline.

The image above shows our snowfall forecast, and it's not terribly impressive, but remember that after the light accumlation, we expect a coating of ice on top of the snow.

The timing...Snow flakes could begin across CT as early as the morning commute, but it won't be enough to cause major problems just yet. Snow builds more late morning and begins mixing with sleet. Along the shoreline, we should see a changeover to all rain by the afternoon while inland, there will be a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain all day.

So...the Monday evening commute will be messy, especially north of I-95. Then everyone, even along the shoreline can expect freezing rain Monday night at Tuesday morning. That means the Tuesday morning commute could also be icy, and again, the worst conditions will be north of I-95.

By Tuesday we are in the 40s and by Wednesday in the 50s...and that means rain.

On average, most of CT can expect 1-2" of snow with a layer of ice on top of that. Slightly higher amounts might occur in the Northwest Hills. Along the shoreline, the quick change to rain keeps snowfall totals to under an inch before the rain...but the wet roads can still get slippery on Tuesday morning.
