As warmer air moves up and over colder air near the surface, a change to sleet and freezing rain is expected through the afternoon.
The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has just released a discussion on this change. They expect only a short period of sleet between the transition from snow to freezing rain. The area of greatest concern for freezing rain is across western Connecticut, away from the immediate shoreline. Here, temperatures aloft should warm quickly enough for the longest period of freezing rain.
