Well, after several days of flip-flopping model runs, it appears that we will LIKELY not only get hit by a major snowstorm, but a historic one at that!
There is still some time for models to change but it is very possible for some places in the Northeast to see over 2 feet of snow with Connecticut being one of them! Both The EURO and the GFS show over a foot of snow for most of CT and in the latest 18z GFS run, it has places from New Haven to Bridgeport picking up almost 3 feet of snow! Now I do believe that is a bit overdone, but if the storm phases at just the right time, anything is possible!
Besides the very heavy snow, wind will also be a huge part of this storm. At this time, it is possible for some or even all of CT to be placed under a BLIZZARD WARNING not only because of the historic snowfall, but because winds are expected to gust up to and possibly over 50 mph at the height of the storm.
Will this be the modern day version of the “Blizzard of 78”? It’s possible! So stay tuned for WXedge.com and my Twitter page @zduhaimedmj for the latest update on what could be the worst winter storm in years!
