How does the Blizzard of 2013 compare to past great blizzards?
In terms of snowfall, 2013 ranks #2, second only to the Blizzard of 1888. With overall disruption, the Blizzard of 1978 might be the worst, as it resulted in far many more deaths than 2013. Travel impacts with 2013 could have also been worse if the blizzard had struck in the middle of the week, like 1978 did.
