Direction of snow showers and flurries.

Snow showers across N.Y. were moving into New England Friday afternoon. This snow shower activity should progress into Connecticut and may result in periods of light snow or flurries into the evening hours.

-A few flurries or snow showers are possible this afternoon and evening.
-The highest elevations have the best shot at seeing some light snow.
-Little or no accumulation. Northern CT hills could see a few slushy areas later tonight.
-Mostly cloudy overnight, but a few flurries are still possible.

Light snow was reported at Newburgh and Orange County Airport in N.Y. as of 2 p.m. Although radar shows some precipitation above the ground, the column of air closer to the surface is relatively dry in CT. Dew-points in the state ranged from +6F at Windham Airport to +20F at Bridgeport. 2-meter temperatuers were in the mid 30's to lower 40's.
Some light snow shower activity may begin to reach the ground over the next few hours. It looks like the highest probability of light snow will be across the higher terrain of northern CT. 925mb and 850mb temperatures are plenty cold for snow. Even though some areas are near 40F at 2-meters, a significant dew-point depression and cold air aloft should result in mainly snow, as opposed to rain.
