I know it's been a hard winter and a long one at that. Hope is shining in our direction though. Recently I was looking over the blocking mechanisms over the Northeast and I saw that the Greenland block and the cold chilly pattern retreats north. Furthermore this would mean an end to the unseasonable cool that has been whack us with cold and snow.

Although April has a chilly first week according to most models it won't be the degree of cold we saw this March. In fact temps should rise into the 50's. Looking beyond a week out is hard, but its not impossible. The EURO model is very accurate when it comes to long range forecasting, most of the time. So, if I take a look into the third week of April there are indications of middle to even upper 60's. Keep in mind this is just looking at the pattern/models the forecasting of those weeks may turn totally different then the current  based data.

I write this to spread a light of hope on people who are weary of winter , and who are strapped out of resources because the major storms. Yes, I realize there is a lot of technical problems in long range forecasting and I certainly will continue to see how this situation plays out. For now though it will remain cool for at least the next week or so before we see this possible modification in pattern.

Keep tuned to WXedge.com. Happy spring!
